The best pest control software for a small business is the one that holds your recurring book, produces a complete chemical record on every job, and costs a number you can see before you sign. For 1-10 technicians, GorillaDesk, Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuoteIQ, Fieldwork and PestShift all publish prices, while FieldRoutes, PestPac and Briostack are quote-only and aimed more at growing or larger operations. Which one fits depends on whether you need texting, QuickBooks sync, GPS tracking, or offline use in the field.
I make one of the products on this list (PestShift), so read this with that in mind. Every competitor fact below comes from the vendor's own website, checked October 8, 2026, and is linked in the sources.
What should pest control software do for a 1-10 tech company?
At this size, software has five jobs.
- Hold the recurring book. Monthly, quarterly and seasonal plans that create their own visits, so nothing depends on memory. More on this in how to build a recurring pest control route.
- Produce compliant application records. Product, EPA registration number, target pest, rate and site, filled in per job. See pesticide application record keeping.
- Route the day. Put stops in a sensible order and set arrival times without breaking promised appointments. See how to route pest control technicians.
- Get you paid. Invoices and card payments, ideally with automatic billing on recurring plans.
- Let you leave. A spreadsheet export of your customers, properties, history and chemical records that you can run yourself.
How do I choose pest control software?
Work through these questions in order. Most decisions are made by the first three.
| Question to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Is the price published? | You can compare without a sales call. Quote-only pricing usually means a bigger, longer sale. |
| Monthly or annual commitment? | Month to month means a bad choice costs a month. Annual prepay can be non-refundable. |
| Priced per user, per route or flat? | Per-user pricing grows with every hire, and sometimes counts office staff too. |
| Are chemical records structured fields? | A free-text notes box is not a compliance record. |
| Does it text customers? | If your customers expect texts, this is a must-have. |
| Does it sync with QuickBooks? | Saves your bookkeeper hours if you use QuickBooks. |
| Does the tech app work without signal? | Matters if you service rural areas, basements or crawl spaces. |
| Can you export your own data? | Check this during the trial, not when you want to leave. |

How do the main options compare?
Published prices only. "Quote" means the vendor does not list a price.
| Software | Published starting price | Free trial | Texting | QuickBooks | GPS tracking |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GorillaDesk | $49/mo Basic (1 route) | 14 days, no card | Yes ($5/mo SMS number plus message credits) | QuickBooks Online, Pro and up | Pro and up |
| Jobber | $29/mo Core, annual prepaid ($49 no commitment) | 14 days, no card | Two-way SMS on Grow and Plus | QuickBooks Online, Connect and up | Yes (real time with a fleet partner's device) |
| Housecall Pro | $59/mo Basic, billed annually | 14 days, no card | Yes ("on my way" texts, quotes and invoices by text) | Essentials and up | Essentials and up |
| QuoteIQ | $29.99/mo Essentials | 14 days, card required | Two-way, Pro and up | QuickBooks Online, Pro and up | Elite and Max |
| Fieldwork | $59/mo Startup (1 field user) | Two weeks, no card | Not stated | All plans | Technician tracking, Pro plan |
| FieldRoutes | Quote | No (demo instead) | Not stated | Yes | Not stated |
| PestPac | Quote | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated |
| Briostack | Quote | Not stated | SMS notifications | QuickBooks Online | Not stated |
| PestShift | $39/mo Solo (1 tech) | 14 days, card required, $0 until day 15 | No (email only) | No (spreadsheet export) | No |
"Not stated" means the vendor's pages I checked did not mention it. It does not mean the product lacks it, so ask.
Who is each pest control software best for?
GorillaDesk fits a small operator who wants pest-specific features at a published price. Its plans run $49, $99 and $149 a month at the default one-route setting, month to month with no setup fees, and only users assigned to a schedule need a paid seat. Pro adds QuickBooks Online sync, GPS device tracking, a customer portal, online booking and device barcode scanning. It also offers texting, which PestShift does not. Note that Basic routing is capped at 25 stops. See GorillaDesk alternatives for the full picture.
Jobber fits an owner who wants a polished general field service tool with strong customer communication. It has two-way SMS on Grow and Plus, QuickBooks Online sync from Connect up, a client portal, card on file for automatic billing, and a chemical record feature. Pricing is per plan and number of users, with three price levels depending on commitment, so read the terms carefully.
Housecall Pro fits a team that wants GPS tracking and QuickBooks from the middle tier, plus a customer portal and card-on-file auto-charge. Route optimization with live traffic is on the Max plan only, and every plan lists offline viewing in the app. It says it fits pest control teams of 1 to 100+.
QuoteIQ fits a cost-conscious owner who wants autopay and saved cards on every plan. It serves many trades besides pest control, so check the chemical side carefully: its pest page lists products and chemicals as inventory, and I did not find chemical application records stated.
Fieldwork fits a pest company that wants free office users and chemical tracking with a published price. QuickBooks, a customer portal and the mobile app are on all plans. Prices are only shown for one field user, so ask how they scale.
FieldRoutes fits a growing company that wants routing, autopay, a customer portal and QuickBooks sync, and is fine with a demo-led sale. Pricing is based on your number of active customers, and there is no free trial. It is a ServiceTitan product. See FieldRoutes alternatives.
PestPac fits multi-branch and enterprise operations. Its own site describes itself as the platform "enterprise leaders use", and pricing is by consultation only. At three trucks you may be paying for structure you do not need. See PestPac alternatives.
Briostack fits a pest company that wants QuickBooks Online, a customer login portal, SMS notifications and barcode scanning, and is fine with quote-only pricing.
PestShift fits a 1-10 tech pest company that cares most about chemical records and simple, flat pricing. Plans are $39 (1 tech), $89 (up to 5) and $149 (up to 10) a month, every plan has every feature, and office users are free. You can require a chemical record (product, EPA registration number, target pest, rate, site) before a job can be closed, and track applicator licenses with expiry alerts. The tech app installs to the home screen and works offline for the day's jobs.
What does PestShift not do?
A shortlist that hides its own gaps is not worth reading. PestShift does not have:
- Autopay or saved cards on file
- SMS or text messages to customers (reminders go by email)
- QuickBooks sync (you export a spreadsheet)
- GPS or live technician tracking
- Bait station, device or barcode tracking
- A customer portal (customers get single links for an estimate, booking or payment)
If any of these is a must-have for you, GorillaDesk, Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuoteIQ, Fieldwork or Briostack may suit you better, based on what each one publishes. Our spreadsheet export covers customers, properties, appointments and chemical records, but not invoices or estimates.
How do I trial pest control software properly?
Write down your must-haves first. Three to five items, before any demo.
Use your own data. Import twenty real customers, build a real week, and run three jobs through to a completed chemical record and a paid invoice.
Run the exit test on day one. Export your data. If you cannot do it yourself in a few minutes, that tells you something.
Count the total for twelve months. Subscription, extra users, add-ons and card processing fees, for your real tech count.
When should I switch pest control software?
In your slow season, when you have time to import, check what came across, and let techs build new habits. How to switch pest control software without losing data has the step-by-step checklist, and the slow season guide covers what else that window is good for.
PestShift imports your customers for free, from a CSV or a GorillaDesk export, or we do it for you. Details are on the switch page, and the tech app setup is on the install page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best pest control software for a small business?
There is no single best option. For 1-10 technicians, pick based on must-haves: GorillaDesk, Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuoteIQ, Fieldwork and PestShift publish prices, and each differs on texting, QuickBooks, GPS and chemical records.
Which pest control software has published pricing?
As of October 8, 2026, GorillaDesk, Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuoteIQ, Fieldwork and PestShift publish prices on their websites. FieldRoutes, PestPac and Briostack ask you to request pricing.
Do I need pest-specific software or will a general field service app work?
A general app can work if it records the product, EPA registration number, target pest, rate and site on every job. Check that these are proper fields, not a notes box, and that the record can be exported.
Which pest control software works offline?
Housecall Pro lists offline viewing on every plan; most other vendor pages checked for this article did not state offline support, so ask. PestShift's tech app works offline for today's and the next two days' jobs, including notes and chemical records, and syncs when signal returns. Photos and payments still need signal. Ask any vendor to show you their app in airplane mode.
Does PestShift text customers or sync with QuickBooks?
No. PestShift sends email reminders and confirmations and exports data to a spreadsheet. If texting or QuickBooks sync is essential, choose a tool that publishes those features.
How long does it take to switch pest control software?
For a small company, plan for a few weeks: export, import, check the data, then run both systems briefly before cutover. Doing it in the slow season makes it much easier.
