The PestPac alternatives that suit an owner-operator are tools with published prices and a free trial: GorillaDesk, Jobber, Housecall Pro, QuoteIQ, Fieldwork and PestShift. PestPac, made by WorkWave, does not publish prices and pitches itself at "enterprise leaders", so if you run one to ten trucks and do some of the work yourself, a simpler tool you can test first is often the better fit. If you have several branches and large commercial clients, PestPac may still be the right call.
I run PestShift, which competes with every product here. Facts about other products come only from their official websites, checked October 8, 2026. Where a site did not state something, I say so instead of guessing.
What is PestPac and who is it built for?
PestPac is pest control software from WorkWave. Its homepage says: "PestPac is the platform enterprise leaders use to move faster, scale smarter, and dominate their market."
Its pricing page lists three tiers: Small Business, Professional and Enterprise. The Enterprise tier covers "employees across branches & locations" and "larger commercial clients".
So there is a small business tier. The question for an owner-operator is whether a platform aimed at enterprise leaders is the simplest way to run a few trucks.
How much does PestPac cost?
PestPac does not publish prices. The pricing page shows no dollar amounts and says: "Speak with a consultant today for more information on pricing packages."
When I checked, the page did not state contract terms or whether a free trial is offered. Ask about both in writing before a demo turns into a signature: the term length, how renewal works, the notice period to cancel, and whether any setup or training fees apply.
For published prices across the market, see how much pest control software costs.
What does PestPac do well?
From PestPac's own homepage:
- Mobile app for technicians.
- Customer portal for your customers.
- Chemical tracking.
- Route optimization. The page claims PestPac route optimization cuts drive time by 30%. That is PestPac's own claim, not something I tested.
- Integrated payments and customer communication tools.
- Multi-branch structure. The Enterprise tier is built for staff spread across branches and locations and for larger commercial clients.
If you run several locations, have an office team, and serve large commercial accounts, PestPac is built for that. The tools below are aimed at smaller shops and may feel limited by comparison.
Why do owner-operators look for PestPac alternatives?
When you are the owner, the dispatcher and often a technician too, a few things matter more than depth:
- Seeing the price up front. Quote-only pricing means a sales conversation before you know whether it fits your budget.
- Trying it on your own data. A free trial lets you load real customers and run a real week.
- Easy exit. Month to month means a wrong choice costs you a month, not a term.
- Fewer screens. Every feature you don't use is still something to click past.
None of these mean PestPac is bad software. They mean it is aimed at a different size of company.
How do PestPac alternatives compare?
Prices and terms below are as published on each official site on October 8, 2026. "Not stated on site" means I did not find it on the pages I checked, not that the product lacks it.
| Product | Published price | Free trial | Contract | Texting | QuickBooks | GPS tracking |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PestPac | Quote only | Not stated on site | Not stated on site | "Customer communication" listed, channel not named | Not stated on site | Not stated on site |
| GorillaDesk | $49 / $99 / $149 a month at the default "1 Route" setting | 14 days, no card | Month to month | SMS on all plans | QuickBooks Online, Pro and up | Pro and up |
| Jobber | Core from $29/mo billed annually ($49 with no commitment) | 14 days, no card | No-commitment option, or 12-month term | Two-way SMS (Grow and Plus) | QuickBooks Online (Connect and up) | Yes (real time with a fleet partner's device) |
| Housecall Pro | Basic $59/mo billed annually (1 user) | 14 days, no card | No long-term contracts | "On my way" texts | Essentials and up | Essentials and up |
| QuoteIQ | Essentials $29.99/mo (1 user) | 14 days, card required | No contracts | Two-way (Pro and up) | QuickBooks Online (Pro and up) | Elite and Max |
| Fieldwork | $59 / $79 / $99 a month for 1 field user | Two weeks, no card | Not stated on site | Not stated on site | All plans | Technician tracking, Pro |
| PestShift | $39 / $89 / $149 a month (1 / 5 / 10 technicians) | 14 days, card required, $0 until day 15 | Month to month | No (email only) | No | No |
FieldRoutes is the other big pest control platform, but like PestPac it is quote only, and it says it does not offer a free trial. If you are comparing the two, see FieldRoutes alternatives.
What does each PestPac alternative do better?
GorillaDesk
GorillaDesk publishes its prices, runs month to month with "no contracts, no setup fees", and offers a 14-day trial with no card. SMS is on every plan, and Pro adds QuickBooks Online sync, GPS tracking, online booking, a customer portal and device tracking with barcoding. Its homepage says it serves businesses "from solo operators to large teams". More in GorillaDesk alternatives.
Jobber
Jobber offers two-way SMS on Grow and Plus, QuickBooks Online from Connect up, and online booking from Core. Its pest page covers card on file for recurring clients and chemical records with applicator license numbers. The lowest price needs an annual prepayment that the page calls non-refundable.
Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro does not require long-term contracts and includes online booking, a mobile app and offline viewing on every plan. GPS tech tracking starts on Essentials. Its pest page says it serves "small and enterprise pest control services".
QuoteIQ
QuoteIQ has the lowest entry price at $29.99 a month, with saved cards and auto-pay on all plans. In-app calling and texting, a client portal and QuickBooks Online start on Pro. It serves many home service trades, not pest control alone.
Fieldwork
Fieldwork only charges for field users, so office staff are free. QuickBooks, a customer portal and the mobile app are on every plan, and its homepage lists chemical tracking and device scanning in its features menu.
PestShift
PestShift is $39 a month for one technician, $89 for up to five and $149 for up to ten. Every plan has every feature, office users are free, and it runs month to month with a 14-day trial. It covers:
- Scheduling, dispatch and recurring service plans (monthly, quarterly, seasonal).
- Route optimization that orders a technician's stops and sets arrival times.
- Chemical application records required before a job can be closed, on the services you choose: product, EPA registration number, target pest, rate and application site.
- Applicator license tracking with expiry alerts in the app and by email.
- An offline technician app that installs to the home screen from the browser, with no app store. Technicians can work today and the next two days with no signal and it syncs later. Photos, payments and office pages need signal. See pest control software offline mode and how to install it.
- Estimates with e-signature, online booking with deposits, invoices and card payment links through your own Stripe account.
- Data export to a spreadsheet for customers, properties, appointments and chemical records.
What PestShift does not have: no text messages to customers (email only), no QuickBooks sync, no GPS or live technician tracking, no autopay or saved cards, no customer portal (customers get single links for an estimate, booking or payment), and no bait station or barcode tracking. PestPac lists a customer portal, and several tools above have texting, QuickBooks and GPS. If you need those, choose one of them.
What should I check before leaving PestPac?
Work through this list before you give notice:
- Read your contract. Find the end date, the renewal terms and the notice period, and put the deadline in your calendar.
- Export everything first. Customers, properties, service plans with their prices and frequencies, and chemical application records. Your state sets how long you must keep application records, and that duty stays with you after you cancel. See pesticide application record keeping.
- Check any state reports you rely on. If PestPac produces a report you file, make sure you can produce the same thing from the new system or from an export.
- Trial with real data. Load twenty real customers, build one real week, and take three jobs through to a completed chemical record and a paid invoice.
- Total twelve months of cost, including card processing and any add-ons, not just the headline price.
- Pick a quiet month. Switching in the slow season gives your technicians time to learn the new habits.
